The 26th bowls tour departed for Skegness on a sunny Friday morning and following a breakfast stop at Peterborough services we arrived in Skegness in time for lunch. 45 members and supporters of the club enjoyed the first day sitting in the garden relaxing or heading for the town to walk along the pier or browse the shops. Following a full English breakfast some members played golf and others enjoyed the grounds with tea and the morning paper. We headed to Burton House Bowls Club Boston for our first game with Peter Day as captain. A very enjoyable afternoon playing bowls in the sun with very friendly opposition. Sadly we were defeated on 5 of the 6 rinks, with only Skip Steve Thurgood taking his team to victory. The game was followed by a few drinks, tea and biscuits and the captains speeches. Sunday morning and we enjoyed another day of sunshine. Heading to a local club Skegness Town which is made up of some members that come to Skegness for the summer season and play bowls for a local club. Judy Clarkson, captain of the day sorted teams along with formalities before we got underway. Balsham managed to take an overall win on shots winning 3 of the 6 rinks thanks to skips Steve Thurgood, Peter Day and Leslie Howe. After heading back to the hotel everyone enjoyed the evening meal followed by some entertainment and some dancing. Monday came quickly and after breakfast the coach was packed and we headed home. An enjoyable tour and one we will definitely return to in the future. Thanks Skegness for the warm sunshine all weekend.
